The standard provides the provisions on requirements, test method, inspection rule and marks, packing, transportation and storage of copper wire rod for electrical purpose.

    The standard is applicable to copper wire rod of circular cross section with diameter between 6.0mm and 35.0mm for further drawing of wires or other copper conductors for electrical purpose. Appendix A. Measuring Methods of Copper Powder Content in Copper Wire Rod, Appendix B. Hydrogen Embrittlement Test Methods of Oxygen-free Copper Wire Rod and Appendix C. Test Methods of Annealing Property are added.

　

1 Product Classification

(1) Designations, state and specifications of copper wire rod shall meet the provisions.

2 Mark Examples

(2) Copper wire rod shall be supplied in rolls. Each roll shall be of one piece of wire without disconnection. No welding is permitted. The minimum number of roll shall not be less than 1. However, specific delivery weight is allowed to be agreed by both parties.

4 Surface Quality

(1) The copper wire rod shall be rounded off with uniform size. It shall require no acid cleaning or skinning, and can be used directly.

(2) No frilling, flashing, cracks, inclusion or other defects affecting usage shall exist on the surface of copper wire rod.

5 Mechanical Properties

Mechanical properties of copper wire rod shall meet the provisions specified in the table. After full annealing, hard copper wire rod shall meet the elongation requirements on the products in hot state of designations in the table.

6 Torsional Property

Copper wire rod for electrical purpose with diameter of 6.0mm to 10.0mm (hot state) shall receive twisting off test. Torsional property of copper wire rod of different designations shall meet the provisions specified in the table.
